Storth Village Fete

Each year, traditionally on the last Saturday in June, the Playing Field Committee hold a traditional village Fete. The first one on the current field was held in 1974 and opened by Brigadeer Tryon-Wilson of Dallam Tower.
Over the years various attractions and competitions have come and gone, including Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, five a side football, traditional races, fancy dress, maypole dancing, archery. We also have all the regular stalls, such as our raffles and tombola, plant stall, toys, books and the ever-popular Bric a  Brac and jumble. There are lots of activities to keep the family entertained- hook a duck, face painting, coconut shy, sports and bouncy castles to name but a few. There are always lots of cakes, kindly supplied by the ladies and gents of the village, to enjoy with a lovely cuppa! The afternoon usually ends with an egg throwing competition, which is just as messy as it sounds, but great fun!!
All in all, the Fete is a fabulous afternoon thats brings all the village together and it wouldn’t happen without all the donations of prizes and items to sell that are donated by the generous residents of the village. We are also very lucky to have so much help setting up and manning stalls too. Other village groups also get involved, including The Village Shop, School, WI, First Responders and Playgroup.
